Silva processed cheeses have a long history: Cooperative Enigheten began manufacturing Silva processed cheeses after the war and registered the Silva trademark in 1956. At that time, the cheeses were manufactured in a factory on Kaarlenkatu in Helsinki. The production of Silva processed cheeses was transferred to Jokilaakson Juusto in 2003. Silva spreads are manufactured in Jämsä.
